Little Prune Man

Little Prune Man is a festive nod to one of the more curious characters to emerge from traditional Christmas tables...yes, we’re talking about the prune man. Found in parts of Germany and Central Europe, these quirky figures are often handcrafted from dried fruits, especially prunes, and sometimes nuts or figs, all strung together to form a little person. Occasionally charming, occasionally unsettling, they were gifted as tokens of good luck or cheeky humour, kind of like a very edible elf on the shelf.

While they might not be as well-known as gingerbread men or chocolate Santas, prune men have held a place in festive folklore for generations. Some even came with pipes, top hats, or miniature walking sticks, proving that even dried fruit can dress for the season.

To honour this unusual holiday guest, we created a blend that’s full of character. Corriedale wool, dyed deep black, gives the base both strength and warmth, like the sturdy prune itself. Black bamboo fibre adds a slick, inky shine, while red Eri silk introduces subtle pops of festive colour, like little berries, or perhaps a tiny scarf on your dried-fruit friend.

The result is a dark, luxurious blend, proof that even the oddest traditions can inspire something truly beautiful.
