Feuerzangenbowle

Feuerzangenbowle is a traditional German festive drink with a name
that’s almost as fiery as the preparation itself. Translating roughly
to “fire-tongs punch”, this celebratory concoction involves red wine,
spices, and a rum-soaked sugarloaf set dramatically alight, resulting
in a deep, aromatic winter warmer that’s as much a spectacle as it is a
beverage.

Inspired by this theatrical tradition, we wanted to capture the rich
colour, glowing warmth, and touch of indulgence that
Feuerzangenbowle brings to the table. We started with Shetland wool
to give the blend a rustic texture. Corriedale wool was added to
soften the handle and smooth out the spin.

To reflect the flicker of flame and the glisten of melting sugar, we
brought in Tussah silk, lending golden, honeyed tones with a subtle
shimmer. Finally, a generous touch of Mulberry silk was layered in to
echo the glossy blue finish of the drink’s flame & flare and to give the
entire blend a luxurious glow.

The result is a warming, festive fibre that nods to tradition while
inviting you to create something that truly glows, no matches
required.
