We are delighted to have been able to supply samples of fibre for a world record-breaking hand-spinning attempt at Huddersfield University tomorrow night (23 September).
A team of hand-spinners will aim to produce the longest length of yarn in just one hour. The longest unbroken piece will win and enter Guiness World Records!
The Chairman of the Huddersfield Textile Society Bill Skidmore and an official adjudicator from Guinness World Records will be independent expert witnesses.
The rules state that only hand-spinning equipment (either spinning or drop spindle) may be used. The minimum length to be spun is 20 metres of 2-ply yarn. Should the thread break or have knots during measuring, measuring ceases at that point. The longest yarn with no breakage will be the longest hand-spun yarn within an hour.
If you're a hand-spinner in the area and would like to join in visit

We wish everyone the best of luck and will let you know how they get on next week!
