As part of the Yorkshire Festival 2014, Yorkshire-based yarn storm artist Cassandra Kilbride is asking for craft enthusiasts to join her on the Woolly Bike Trail - a series of 'knit n natter' style workshops she is running between March and July, where she will guide groups to yarn storm bicycles with a Yorkshire theme for the Tour de France Grand Depart.
From woollen mills to whippets, food to flat caps, landscapes to literature, Cassandra's aim is to create ten woolly bikes for a year-long trail connecting ten towns with the many knitters, crocheters and yarn-stormers taking part.
The transformed knitted vehicles will go on display in Sheffield this July, before they take up individual positions along the trail route. Workshop Dates:
12 & 19 March: West Yorkshire Playhouse, Leeds
25 & 26 March: The Carding Shed, Hepworth, Holmfirth
9 & 16 April: Lawrence Batley Theatre, Huddersfield
24 & 25 April: Woodend Gallery Space, Scarborough
27 & 29 May: Bronte Parsonage Museum, Haworth, Keighley
31 May & 1 June: Square Chapel, Halifax
3 & 10 June & 3 July: Sheffield Cathedral, Sheffield
